Course Description

Participants will learn the documentation process, how to conduct an audit, complete the audit report, and take corrective action using a case study, which includes the integrated approach

Day 1

  • The ISO standard explained
  • The challenge for Top Management
  • Eight quality management principles

Day 2

  • Overview of ISO 9001:2008 requirements
  • Overview of ISO 14001:2004 requirements
  • Overview of OHSAS 18001:2007 requirements
  • EMS/OHSMS management system documentation

Day 3

  • Understanding commonalities and specific differences between ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Integrating ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
  • Understanding process mapping/ environmental aspect identification and impact evaluation/ OHS hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Defining the audit scope, criteria, frequency, methodologies, responsibilities and requirements (ISO 19011)

Day 4

  • Management of audit programs
  • Audit planning and preparation
  • How to carry out documentation review, interviews and site inspection during an audit
  • Writing nonconformity statements

Day 5

  • Preparation of audit report
  • Corrective action and closeout (using CARs)
  • Practical exercises (audit a selected department for in-house program, desktop audit for public program)
