HCM 114 - Nutrition
Course Description
This course identifies how nutrition can improve health and contribute to the prevention and treatment of disease. Participants learn the guiding principles of good nutrition using food as medicine as well as insights into complementary medicines and environmental influences on health
Course Objectives
- Synthesize advanced knowledge relating to human nutrition and metabolism;
- Demonstrate competence in metabolism including digestion,
- Build the knowledge in sport and utilization of carbohydrate, fats, cholesterol, protein and micronutrients;
- Integrate principles of nutrition in the maintenance of health and the development of disease.

Day 2
- Optimal Nutrition for Exercise and Training
- Interaction of Lipid and Carbohydrate Metabolism

Day 3
- During Exercise Gender and Substrate Metabolism During Exercise
- Hormonal Regulation of Lipid and Carbohydrate Metabolism – Blood Glucose
- Gender and Substrate Metabolism During Exercise
- Optimal Nutrition for Exercise and Training (Protein and Performance)
Day 4
