Course Description

The CCTV course will provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to work effectively in the electronic security and  video surveillance sector. From cabling to the latest IP integration techniques, this 5 day course is the perfect choice if they are looking forward to entering the exciting world of CCTV installation. 

Course Objectives

  • Wiring and connecting video distribution amplifiers
  • Setting up a range of colour, monochrome, day/night and dome cameras
  • Connecting and set up amplifiers using coaxial cable
  • Installing and maintain video over CAT5 cabling

Course Details/Schedule

Day 1

  • The basic theory of television and CCTV
  • The foundations of digital CCTV and IP
  • Setting up black and white and colour display screens
  • The composite video signal
  • Setting up, back focusing and zoom tracking cameras
  • Selecting and applying appropriate lenses and filters
  • Understanding different lighting parameters for CCTV cameras

Day 2

  • Practical lens calculations and the Operational Requirement
  • Handling video and data storage media
  • Setting up digital video recorders
  • Selecting, connecting and installing cables
  • Use of oscilloscopes, bar generators and other test equipment
  • Commissioning, fault finding and routine maintenance

Day 3

  • Selecting and applying function switches on cameras
  • Direct drive and video iris lenses
  • Varifocal, aspherical, zoom and manual lenses
  • Installing fixed focus cameras into housings
  • Setting up and programming domes
  • Wiring a fully functional camera (PTZ)

Day 4

  • Connections over coaxial cable
