Course Description

This training program on API 653: Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration and Reconstruction will focus on learning the API 653 tank inspection code and provide information on the API 571, API 575, API 650, API 652, API 651, API 577, ASME Section V and ASME Section IX. The delegates will further receive instructions on operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the different types of aboveground storage tanks. 

Course Objectives

  • Providing enough knowledge to resolve and troubleshoot aboveground storage tanks issues as per API 653 code
  • Identifying the API 653 scope, suitability for service and evaluation of the tank shell 
  • Evaluating the tank bottom, including settlement and release prevention Systems (RPS)
  • Recognizing the reasons for Inspection and Causes of Deterioration
  • Determining the need for Cathodic Protection and explaining methods of Cathodic Protection
  • Employing post weld heat treatment, identify the Charpy impact testing
  • Carrying out welding discontinuities and discuss ASME section IX WPS &WPQ and PQR
