Course Description

The five day course is designed for engineers and field personnel involved in the planning and implementation of drilling programs. The course covers all aspects of drilling technology, emphasizing both theory and practical application. Drilling is a complex operation requiring the knowledge of different technologies and disciplines. Today's drilling personnel must have a working knowledge of all these disciplines in order to effectively drill a well. The course provides all the fundamentals necessary to drill a well whether it is a shallow well or a complex, high pressure well.

Course Objectives

  • Learning basics of drilling rig types and components, rig static and mechanic calculations
  • Drilling a well cost effectively and maximize penetration rate
  • Evaluating stuck pipe problems and avoid potential problems
  • Evaluating and maintain drilling fluids
  • Optimizing hole cleaning
  • Learning basics of drill string and BOP/wellheads
  • Learning theory and basics of Directional Drilling
  • Learning latest bit technology and basics of bit types
  • Recognizing and evaluate well control problems
