Course Description

Industry is, of course, rife with waste. Whether it’s idle workers or unused materials that cannot be recycled or repurposed, the results are the same: a drag on productivity. This insistence on eliminating waste and improving the manufacturing process is where the idea of lean as a management system developed. This course addresses topics such as Lean Philosophy (Management & Manufacturing), the 5Ss, Kaizen, problem solving techniques,and value stream mapping.

Day 1

  • Lean Management Philosophy
  • History of Lean Management 
  • Short introduction to Toyoto Production System 
  • Application areas of Lean Principals 

Day 2

  • Introduction to 5S 
  • Defining and understanding steps of the 5S
  • Gripping the importance of 5S 
  • Organising the work areas according to 5S 

Day 3

  • Introduction to Kaizen 
  • Learning about the types of Kaizens 
  • Organising teams for Kaizen
  • General Kaizen Management Principles

Day 4

  • Problem Solving Techniques
  • Learn about the Brain Storming
  • Learn about the Root Cause Analysis
  • Learn about the 5WHY Analysis

Day 5

  • Learn to define Value Added and Nonvalue Added Activities 
  • Learn about the meaning of Value Stream Map’ s Symbols
  • Drawing of the current situation’s Map 
  • Determining the bottleneck of the system and defining the necessary actions.
  • Learn about the calculating of Cycle Time, Takt Time and using them.
