Course Description

A western blot is a biochemical technique with which a specific protein in a mixture of proteins can be detected by means of antibodies.  Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) is a quantitative measurement method based on investigating the antigen-antibody relationship and the activity of an enzyme bound to an antibody. This course aims to give the participants theoretical and practical knowledge about Western Blot and ELISA used for different purposes in the R&D laboratory.

Course Objectives

  • Introducing the concepts of protein determination
  • Describing the principles of Western Blot and ELISA
  • Analyzing of protein content
  • Troubleshooting the most common problems you may encounter with Western Blot and ELISA
  • Discussing the advantages and disadvantages of Western Blot and ELISA
