Course Description

This 5-day course will expand the attendee’s knowledge and skills in the field of global health procurement and supply chain management through a combination of structured Instructor-led informative lectures and interactive sessions and case study ‘‘problem – solution’’ exercises and short group discussions.  

This course will provide a solid overview of procurement and supply chain management issues, focusing on the following topics: Procurement Management, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, Distribution Management and Post-Distribution Activities. 

Course Objectives

  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of procurement and supply chain management and its linkages with global health;
  • Fully understand the procurement and supply chain management framework and how different parts of the supply chain work together;
  • Develop a strong foundation of the real-world issues and challenges involved in selection, procurement, supply and distribution of medicines and other public health commodities;
  • Learned management structures and systems required for effective operations of procurement and supply chain management; 
  • Gain sufficient knowledge to be able to assess and address supply chain bottlenecks;
  • Exercise the skills required for making procurement and supply chain management more effective;
  • Improve confidence level related to negotiation and decision-making and be in a position to help facilitate cost-effective and high quality delivery of public health programs
