Course Description

While railway transport is considered the most sustainable transport mode with its low energy consumption and CO2 emissions, noise pollution has always been a main environmental challenge. Environmental noise is almost everywhere around us. This may affect the quality of our life. However, recently, the introduction of modern rolling stock will lower noise most significantly. This course lists measures, funding and regulations to reduce noise. It focuses on the technology that will effectively reduce rolling noise while still increasing the railway transport output.

Course Objectives

  • Addressing noise and vibration issues for new lines or for modification of existing lines
  • Differentiating numerical and experimental methodologies
  • Providing details analysis on environmental railway noise
  • Measuring outside and/or inside noise emitted by stationary or rail vehicles
  • Demonstrating how current rolling stock fleets compare against current, recent past, and projected new rolling stock.

Who Should Attend?

  • Railway Engineers
  • Construction Engineers
