Course Description
This course provides an overview of how to conduct reservoir simulation studies from practical point of view. Also, how to follow up reservoir simulation study done by third party. The course emphasizes the practical aspects reservoir simulation studies. How to build dynamic model, QC model/input data, initialize and history match dynamic models. How to come up with field development plan (FDP).
Course Objectives
- Understanding how to upscale a geological model to dynamic model and how to QC the up-scaled reservoir properties
- Understanding how to choose a proper gridding and layering for dynamic model
- Learning about the initialization of the dynamic model and QC the model after initialization
- Learning about the preparation of the data for the dynamic model (data requirements)
- Learning about the model history match and history match parameters.
- Gaining insight into QC the model after history match
- Understanding the preparation of the dynamic model for prediction cases
- Learning how to use the dynamic model for pilot studies
- Learning about selection of the field development plan (FDP) from several future development options
