Course Description

This course provides a practical approach to conducting reservoir simulation studies and overseeing third-party simulations. Participants will learn how to build, validate, and history match dynamic models, ensuring accurate reservoir performance predictions. The course emphasizes Field Development Planning (FDP) and integrating dynamic models into decision-making processes for optimal reservoir management.

Course Objectives

  • Convert geological models into dynamic reservoir models and validate upscaled properties
  • Choose optimal gridding and layering strategies for accurate dynamic modeling
  • Initialize the dynamic model and perform quality control (QC) checks post-initialization
  • Prepare and integrate data for the dynamic model, ensuring accuracy in historical input parameters
  • Conduct history matching, identifying key parameters and using PLT & PTA data for validation
  • Transition from history match to prediction models, preparing for future reservoir performance forecasting
  • Evaluate and compare multiple field development scenarios (FDP) for optimal decision-making
