Course Description

Many new and inexperienced control room operators enter plants every year. This course is aimed at training both new and experienced operators.

In this course, we teach the operator many important DCS operational details, including DCS control schemes, the meaning of FO, SP tracking, PV tracking, windup and many other topics.

Course Objectives

  • Gaining insight into all basic, advanced and practical concepts on DCS operations. 
  • Identifying tag ranges, tuning parameters, alarm system, alarm limits, rate of change limits, trending in the DCS, event history, logs, reports and security. 
  • Explain in detail the processes using various documents (PFDs, P&IDs, control schemes, logic diagrams),
  • Analyse the process key parameters to determine disturbance causes, and take appropriate corrective and preventive actions,
  • Prepare, start and shutdown a unit in safe conditions.
