Course Description

The iron and steel industry is one of the most important industries in the world, as it provides the foundation for many other industries, such as construction, transportation, and manufacturing. This course will provide an overview of the iron and steel industry, including its production processes, and key players.

The main target of this course is knowledge transfer in the field of iron and steel industry, focusing on acquaintance of modern technologies in manufacturing, management of production processes and manpower, increasing production and lowering costs, efficient resources management and utilization. 

Course Objectives

• Providing an overview of the history of iron and steel production
• Introducing the different types of iron and steel, including pig iron, cast iron, wrought iron, and various types of steel.
• Explaining the production processes used in the iron and steel industry, including mining, smelting, refining, and casting
• Familiarizing partwith the different types of furnaces used in the industry, including blast furnaces and electric arc furnaces.
• Examining the environmental impact of the iron and steel industry
