Course Description
The participant shall understand the Wastewater reuse regulations and standards, the constitute of wastewater, the types of wastewaters based on sources, and the conventional wastewater treatment system. In addition, the different technologies of wastewater treatment and the nature-based with zero discharge treatment technologies will be covered.

Day 1
- Introduction and definition of wastewater
- Various sources and types of wastewaters
- Need of wastewater management and Importance of Wastewater Treatment
- Concept of wastewater treatment and recycling
Day 2
- Wastewater Generation and Characteristics
- Wastewater generation and quantity estimation
- Water quality parameters and standards (COD, BOD, DO, Solids, Nutrients, metals and emerging contaminants)
- Sources specific wastewater physical and chemical characteristics
- Wastewater treatment Stages: Preliminary, Primary Treatment, Secondary Biological Stage and Tertiary advanced Treatment stage
Day 3
- Conventional concept of wastewater treatment system (Conventional Activated Sludge System)
- Other Biological Treatment Processes Membrane bioreactors (MBR), SBR, MBBR, Fixed film & hybrid processes
- Effluent Disinfection (Chlorine, Ultraviolet light and Ozone)
Day 4
- Sewage Sludge Management:
- Sludge dewatering, drying, and thickening.
- Sludge digestion; Aerobic and anaerobic sludge stabilization.
