Course Description

The Project is simply divided into two parts: The “Buy” content and the “Make” content. The importance of this distinction is the “Make” content will be authorized by the senior manager with use of non-legal documents. If “Make” content starts experiencing problems, the senior management urges the problematic areas to get back to the desired performance at the earliest time.

The Work sent outside of a company will be governed by the legal document the buyer issued called the “Contract”, “Subcontract” or a “Purchase Order”. As the “Buy” content starts to experience problems the senior manager cannot influence the performing party.

If the buyer fails to specify precisely what they want from the seller to perform for them, the senior management will be of no or little help in getting the other company to improve the performance. The safety wall for the parties involved is the precise language of the contractual document. The contract language must be crystal clear. The “Buy” work is a legal and binding formal relationship.

The "Planning, Negotiating and Managing High Quality Performance Contracts" course will demonstrate to the buyer how to rationally determine which activities to outsource and which not to, how to select the best seller/contractor/vendor, and how to evaluate the delivered performance of all parties involved.
