Course Description
This IWCF Level 2 course provides a fundamental understanding of well control principles for drilling operations. Designed for individuals new to the oil and gas industry or those seeking to enhance their knowledge, this introductory program covers essential concepts such as well control equipment, pressure fundamentals, and kick detection. Participants will gain practical insights into safe drilling practices, enabling them to support well control operations effectively.
This course is only a preparation for the IWCF certification. The fee does not include practical and written assessments. Certification application is to be done by the participants.
Course Objectives
- Understand the basics of well control and its importance in drilling operations
- Identify the causes and warning signs of kicks and how to manage them
- Explain hydrostatic pressure, formation pressure, and fluid behavior in the wellbore
- Operate the trip tank system to monitor fluid displacement during tripping
- Perform basic tripping calculations to maintain wellbore stability
- Recognize different well control equipment and their functions
- Apply fundamental shut-in methods for drilling and tripping scenarios
