Course Description

Directional Drilling Technology course is intended for individuals who will be working closely with drilling departments within their companies. This course will give participants a complete understanding of the processes involved in the directional drilling of oil and gas wells.

This course covers several topics which must be understood by DD and the client’s representative who supervision to the Deviated wells.

Understanding how a well plan (proposal) for a directional well calculated is one of the most important duties of the DD.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the various systems of coordinates.
  • List the various methods of calculating a directional survey.
  • Explain what preliminary information for the directional well is needed from the client.
  • Describe the effect on maximum angle of changing the KOP.
  • Describe the four most common types of directional well profile.
  • Explain the principle behind the traveling cylinder method & AC
  • Explain what is meant by Ellipse of Uncertainty.
