Course Description

The main objective of this course is to provide Exploration & Development professionals with the opportunity to develop hands-on experience of various Seismic Reservoir Characterization techniques. It will cover all Seismic approaches from fundamental theoretical background to high-level real work information/techniques.

  • Determine Seismic data Phase & Polarity Convention
  • Determine Seismic Wavelet Sensitivity Analysis
  • Determine Seismic to Well Tie Sensitivity Analysis
  • Apply RGB Color-Blending Spectral Analysis vs. Full Bandwidth Conventional Seismic Attributes
  • Analyse VSP data & Make Velocity Analysis
  • Build Velocity Models & Make Depth Conversion Sensitivity Analysis
  • Estimating HCIIP, COS & POS
  • Separating between Fluid & Lithology using different methodologies; AVO, Inversion and other techniques
  • Generate Seismic Impedance Cube & Facies Cube (Gas Sand, Water Sand & Shale/Background)
  • Extract a Gas-Sand & Water-Sand Geobodies from Seismic data
  • Analyse all the data to optimize the best Well location
  • Evaluate and mature new Plays & Prospects

  • 2D/3D/4D Conventional - Broadband Seismic Data Acquisition & Processin
  • 2D/3D/4D Onshore Conventional & Broadband Seismic data Acquisition
  • 2D/3D/4D Offshore Conventional & Broadband Seismic data Acquisition.
  • Undershooting & Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC).
  • NAZ, MAZ, WAZ, RAZ, AAZ & FAZ Surveys.
  • Offshore Geo-Hazard Site Survey & Seabed Imaging.
  • Bore-Hole Seismic & Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP).
  • Convolutional Model of the Earth.

Day 3

  • Seismic Reservoir Characterization Part-1 
  • Statistical & Deterministic Wavelet Determination.
  • Wavelet Extraction Sensitivity Analysis.
  • Checkshot (CS) data QC & Velocity Analysis.
  • Well to Seismic Tie (Synthetics) Sensitivity Analysis.
  • Structural & Stratigraphic Interpretation.
  • Full Band-Width Conventional Seismic Attributes & DHI Analysis.
  • Specific Band-Width Spectral Decomposition Analysis.
  • Red-Green-Blue (RGB) Color-Blending.

Day 4

  • Depth Conversion using different methods, Velocity Models building & Sensitivity Analysis.
  • Statistical & Deterministic Volumetrics / Hydrocarbon-In-Place (HCIIP) estimation.
  • Prospect Evaluation & Chance/Probability of Success (COS/POS) determination.
  • Risked & Recoverable Hydrocarbon-In-Place (HCIIP) estimation.
  • Amplitude Variation with Offset (AVO) Analysis
  • Rock-Physics Cross Plots & Inversion Feasibility Study.

  • Converting Seismic Cube to Inverted Impedance Cube.
  • Converting Inverted Impedance cube to Seismic Facies Cube (Gas Sand – Water Sand – Shale /background).
  • Generating Gas Sand & Water-Sand Geobodies from Seismic data.
  • Geo-Hazard Analysis over proposed well location.
  • Optimizing the best Well Location using integrated geophysical tools.
  • Round Table & Discussion.
