Course Description

In this course, students will learn basic video production skills and essential film grammar (i.e., types of shots, framing and composition, camera movement, and blocking actors) through a focus on narrative storytelling. The course is divided into three sections: pre-production, production, and post-production. During pre-production students will learn how to work in a group to plan for and realize a short film from concept to shooting script. During production students will work together to coordinate and shoot their script. And finally, in post-production students will edit and polish their projects. The instructor provides guidance throughout the process emphasizing the students’ responsibility for carrying the project from inception to completion
